In the first episode the name of Michelangelo is immortalised when, at 26, he produces a colossal statue of biblical hero David from a flawed piece of marble.

The docudrama follows the difficulties Michelangelo experienced after receiving a commission to paint the vast ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
